Each plan A through J has a different set of standardized benefits. Plan A offers the least amount of benefits and Plan J offers the most benefits. Plans F and J are the only two plans that include payment of both the Medicare Part B Deductible and 100% of Part B Excess charges. Plan J also includes an Extended Drug Benefit providing 50% payment up to a $3000 Limit after a $250 deductible, however, the increased costs over Plan F requires a close evaluation to determine if the increased costs justifies the limited drug benefit. Because of this, the most popular Medicare Supplement Insurance has been Plan F.</div> <bR> <div> Some insurance companies offer Plans F and J with a high deductible option to reduce the premium while some companies offer a Medicare Select type of Medigap policy which is still one of the standardized plans A thru J but with an incentive when you use specific hospitals and, in some cases, specific doctors. For this reason, Medicare SELECT policies generally cost less. Another option in some areas, is to enroll in an HMO alternative to Medicare in which case a Medigap policy is not needed.</div> <bR> <div> To be eligible for Medicare Supplement Insurance you must be enrolled for Medicare Parts A & B.
